La Varenne is a spacious home with character, renovated in 2005, comprising a stone house of typical Périgourdin style dating back from the eighteenth century, and an extension built in the 1950s. The house is located at the end of a charming Périgord village. It is independent and offers full privacy. It is surrounded by a beautiful park ornamented with adult trees and including a private pool. Access to the house is via a locked gate reserved for house guests. A locked, private car park for several cars is available on the premises.

The house has both central heating and an inverter-type air conditioning (can heat or cool).

Wireless broadband internet access is included and free.

The house is surrounded by a stone terrace of more than 300m2 (approx. 3,000sq.ft.) with parasol and outdoor/pool furniture, and offering a magnificent close view onto the Dordogne valley. The house sits in a 3500sq.m. (approx. 3,5000sq.ft.) park with some adult trees: cedars, pines (including rare specimens), maples, oaks, hazel trees, mulberry tree.

The house comprises a large rustic living room; a Louis XIII dining room with a beautiful stone fireplace; a large fitted kitchen with gas stove, electric oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, extractor hood, washing machine, microwave oven, electric coffee-maker, dishes, kitchen utensils.

On either side of the living rooms, two sleeping sections can be found, allowing two families to sleep in full privacy from each other:

- On the one side: 3 bedrooms, 2 with double beds, the third one with twin beds; 1 bathroom with shower and toilet; 1 bathroom with shower and no toilet; 1 separate toilet.

- On the other side: 2 bedrooms, 1 with twin beds, 1 large rustic bedroom with twin beds and one double bed; a bathroom with bath and toilet.

The rental includes 2 bedrooms if your party size is 1-3 persons, 4 bedrooms if 4-7 persons, or 5 bedrooms if 7-11 persons. In all cases all common areas remain accessible, and you will be the sole ocupants of the property.

A relaxation/fitness room facing the swimming pool contains a finnish sauna and a massage bed..

Renovation has been carried out in the spring of 2005. First of all the eighteenth century part of the house has been fully renovated. As was the case for our other renovations in the past, we have taken particular care in restoring the most interesting original architectural details, such as old beamwork, stone frames, ancient sinks, fireplaces, etc. We have also built a 9x5m (approx. 30x17ft.) swimming pool, exclusively reserved for guests of the house, and equipped with security equiments as per French law. The new pool is shown in our photo album. It is open in season.

La Varenne is also equipped with a phone line, which can only be used with a France Télécom calling card (please inquire with FT before arriving) or with a Ticket Universel (check FT's site).
